あらすじ
アナ・スコット（ジュリア・ロバーツ）は、世界一有名なスター女優。一方、ウィリアム・タッカー（ヒュー・グラント）は、古くて味のある街、ノッティングヒルで旅行書専門の書店の営む、まったく普通の男。そんな二人が出会い、非常に困難な問題に直面する。全世界が注目する中で、恋愛することはできるのか？

舞台はロンドン西部にあるノッティングヒル
英語の先生にDVDをお借りして見ました。ロマンティックなラブストーリーかと思っていたのですが、コメディとしてもすごく笑える作品だと思います。イギリス人とアメリカ人の違いなども描かれていて面白い（細かくはわからないですが）。1999年の映画でジュリア・ロバーツ、ヒュー・グラントとも若く美しく目の保養にもなりました。

今回はヘイスティングスやミス・レモンは登場せず、ギリシャのリゾート地で出会った好奇心旺盛の女性パメラが助手のような役割をしています。

あらすじ
夜遅くアパート内で物音が聞こえた。それは、ポワロの部屋の下の階に住むパトリシアの婚約者ドノバンと友人のジミーが荷物用エレベーターを使う音だった。アパートの鍵がなくなって、パトリシアの部屋にもぐり込むためだったのだが、間違った部屋に入ってしまった二人は、その部屋に横たわる死体を発見する。最近、暇を持て余し気味だったポワロは、そのアパートの階下で起きた殺人事件に挑む。（アマゾンビデオより）
イギリス英語でいう３階は、日本では４階
イギリスでは、１階は the ground floor、そしてその上の２階は the first floor といいます。というわけでタイトルの "The third floor ～" は『４階の～』となっています。

あらすじ
ロンドンのお気に入りのレストランで食事をしている時、ポワロは、ある馴染みの客の話を聞いて興味をそそられる。その客は、いつも水曜日と土曜日にそのレストランで食事をするのだが、ある時、月曜日に突然現れて、普段は手をつけないようなメニューを注文したというのだ。翌日、新聞にその男が死んだという記事が載る。ポワロは、転落死とされているその事件に疑問を抱き、調査を始める。（アマゾンビデオより）
タイトルはマザー・グースより
タイトルの 『Four and twenty blackbirds（24羽の黒つぐみ）』は、マザー・グースの1編である 『Sing a song of sixpence（6ペンスの唄）』の一節からとられています。また、同作家のミス・マープル『A Pocket Full of Rye（ポケットにライ麦を）』このタイトルも6ペンスの唄から引用されています。
