あらすじ

ロンドンのお気に入りのレストランで食事をしている時、ポワロは、ある馴染みの客の話を聞いて興味をそそられる。その客は、いつも水曜日と土曜日にそのレストランで食事をするのだが、ある時、月曜日に突然現れて、普段は手をつけないようなメニューを注文したというのだ。翌日、新聞にその男が死んだという記事が載る。ポワロは、転落死とされているその事件に疑問を抱き、調査を始める。（アマゾンビデオより）

タイトルはマザー・グースより

タイトルの『Four and twenty blackbirds（24羽の黒つぐみ）』は、マザー・グースの1編である『Sing a song of sixpence（6ペンスの唄）』の一節からとられています。また、同作家のミス・マープル『A Pocket Full of Rye（ポケットにライ麦を）』このタイトルも6ペンスの唄から引用されています。
